Clackamas Community Emergency Response Teams

The home of Milwaukie, Oak Lodge, Happy Valley and Willamette Falls teams.

No matter where you live, no matter who you are, we all have a role in our personal and hometown preparedness.

CERT is part of a grass-roots movement that actively involves everyone in making our communities safer, better prepared and more resilient.  All over America, communities have organized under Citizen Corps’ CERT program to inspire people to take action and get involved. The FEMA sponsored Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live.

CERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as Fire Suppression and Hazardous Materials, Light Search and Rescue, Team Organization, Disaster Medical Operations, CERT and Terrorism, Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Psychology.

The CERT program offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks. Locally, team members participate in on-going monthly training and assist in community events to keep skills current.

Free training classes are offered twice yearly and are taught by FEMA-certified local trainers. The next class is March 30, April 6 and 13, 2024 and will be held in Milwaukie. Pre-registration is required. Trainees participate in a 3-full day Saturday, 24 hour training that combines classroom and hands-on skills training. Following graduation, trainees have the option to apply to join one of the four active CERT teams within Clackamas Fire District’s boundaries. CFD1_Service_Area_July2021.pdf (clackamasfire.com)
